The Republic Square (Armenian: Հանրապետության հրապարակ Hanrapetu'tyan Hraparak) is the large central town square in Yerevan, The square was designed by architect Alexander Tamanian within the 1924 main plan of Yerevan city.

In 2017 on December 29th, a souvenir sheet with 1 stamp dedicated to the theme “Religion. 1070th anniversary of St. Grigor Narekatsi” is put into circulation.


The postage stamp of the souvenir sheet has the nominal value of 870 AMD. The postage stamp of the souvenir sheet depicts the Armenian poet, musician, philosopher and theologian Saint Grigor Narekatsi (Saint Gregory of Narek, manuscript from “Book of Lamentations” illustrated by Grigor Mlichetsi in 1173) and the background of the souvenir sheet presents Narekavank Monastery (X century, Western Armenia), where St. Gregor Narekatsi got his education, served as a monk. Afterwards, he became the “vardapet” (“vardapet” - doctor of the church, teacher) of Narekavank Monastery and lived there till the end of his life. Saint Grigor Narekatsi was buried in the chapel, which was built in his memory on the territory of the Narekavank Monastery.
